International days of awareness, like International Happiness Day, are an excellent reminder to stop, and appreciate a moment, past event, or share something as a community. This March, we’re celebrating International Happiness Day! That’s right, there is a day to appreciate happiness and we can’t wait to share how and why we’re celebrating.
The actual pledge for this holiday is, “I will try to create more happiness in the world around me.” We know this is a huge goal and it’s a hard one to accomplish, but much like any other goal, when you break it down into smaller pieces you can see it’s easier than you think to achieve.
At MEGAComfort we pride ourselves in spreading awareness about safety and workplace wellness. Not only do we believe the two go hand-in-hand, but both are fundamental to creating a strong, positive, productive, and effective workplace. One thing we’ve also noticed though implementing a workplace wellness program at MEGAComfort, is that the more we work together as a team toward our individual health goals, the happier we are to work together on other projects. Simply put, the more healthy behaviors we engage in at work, the happier we are throughout the day.
It sounds almost too simple, be healthier in the office, and be happier during the day…but it’s actually that easy. Think about it for a moment, when you make a good decision and feel positive about your actions, it’s almost a contagious feeling. Your happiness spreads throughout your workplace and can even go home with you!
According to the leaders of the International Day of Happiness, there are ten keys to a happier life. Each is based on scientific findings about wellness and happiness and their research shows that MEGAComfort may be on to something (we thought we were stepping in the right direction!)
Here are the areas they highlight to create a happier life:
- Trying Out
So how do these tie into our workplace wellness program (and hopefully yours)? At MEGAComfort we offer workout equipment to be used at any time and we take a Pilates class together as a team (see image below). Working out together is obviously exercise, but it also helps us relate to one another. We each have different goals but we’re moving in the same direction. Through group exercise, we feel more resilient as a team and generally feel happier after working out. You can take this example into so many different wellness programs. The important piece to remember is that small healthy changes and habits can truly impact your happiness in a positive way.
We hope you take MEGASteps towards happiness on International Happiness Day and start habits that can make you happier each and every day.
